Read Quran
The reading experience in Canvas is built around the full Quran — 114 Surahs, 30 Juz, and 604 pages — with flexible navigation, multiple display modes, translations, transliterations, Tafsir, Tajweed colouring, audio from 100+ reciters, freehand annotation, and an AI assistant.
Navigating Canvas
Section titled “Navigating Canvas”Canvas has a clean layout built around the Quran. The home screen has tabs across the top:

Sidebar Navigation
Section titled “Sidebar Navigation”The sidebar on the left gives you three ways to navigate:

Click any item to jump directly to that Surah, Juz, or Page.
Bottom Toolbar
Section titled “Bottom Toolbar”The toolbar at the bottom of the reading area contains audio controls, drawing tools, and the mode switcher — switch between Read, Translate, Recite, Judge, Tafsir, and Memorize modes.
Browsing the Quran
Section titled “Browsing the Quran”Canvas gives you four ways to navigate the full Quran:

By Surah
Section titled “By Surah”- Open the Chapters tab in the left sidebar.
- All 114 Surahs are listed with their number, Arabic name, and English name.
- Click any Surah to open it in the reading area.
By Juz
Section titled “By Juz”- Open the Juz tab in the left sidebar.
- Click a Juz to open it — you’ll see all the Surahs and verses it contains.
Each Juz typically spans multiple Surahs. The display picks up exactly where that Juz begins, even if it starts mid-Surah.
By Page
Section titled “By Page”- Open the Pages tab in the left sidebar.
- Click a page number to jump directly to that page.
Canvas supports a dual-page view — displaying two Mushaf pages side by side, mirroring the layout of a physical Quran.
Individual Verse
Section titled “Individual Verse”Click on any verse to see a detailed view with full translation, transliteration, and Tafsir. You can also copy, share, or save the verse, or view similar verses that repeat the same phrase elsewhere in the Quran.
Reading Modes
Section titled “Reading Modes”Canvas offers six reading modes, each designed for a different purpose. Switch between them using the mode switcher in the bottom toolbar.

Read Mode
Section titled “Read Mode”The default mode. Displays Arabic text with Tajweed colouring — designed for focused, uninterrupted reading.
Translate Mode
Section titled “Translate Mode”Displays each verse with Arabic text, transliteration (romanized pronunciation guide), and translation in your selected language. Tap any word to see its individual translation and grammatical role.
Tafsir Mode
Section titled “Tafsir Mode”Displays the Arabic text alongside Tafsir — scholarly interpretation and commentary for each verse. Multiple Tafsir sources may be available depending on your organization’s configuration.
Recite Mode
Section titled “Recite Mode”Activates the AI recitation evaluation system. You record yourself reciting a verse and receive instant feedback on Tajweed errors, verbal errors, Waqf errors, and memorization errors.
Judge Mode
Section titled “Judge Mode”Overlays your saved recitation errors directly on the Quranic text. Words you previously mispronounced are colour-coded so you can see exactly where your weaknesses are.
Memorize Mode
Section titled “Memorize Mode”Progressively covers words in the verse, challenging you to recall them from memory. Words are revealed one at a time as you progress.
Fonts & Display
Section titled “Fonts & Display”Canvas gives you full control over how the Quranic text is displayed.
Arabic Script
Section titled “Arabic Script”| Script | Description |

Font Size
Section titled “Font Size”Canvas offers 7 size levels — from compact to large display. Adjust from the Settings tab or the toolbar while reading.
Translation Language
Section titled “Translation Language”When using Translate mode, Canvas displays a translation beneath each verse. Select your preferred translation language from the settings.
Tajweed Colouring
Section titled “Tajweed Colouring”Canvas visually highlights Tajweed rules directly on the Arabic text:

Toggle Tajweed colouring on or off from the display settings. It is on by default in Read and Recite modes.
Canvas supports light and dark themes — switch from the Settings tab to reduce eye strain during extended reading sessions.
Surah Information
Section titled “Surah Information”Every Surah in Canvas has an information panel with background details and scholarly context.
Accessing Surah Information
Section titled “Accessing Surah Information”Open any Surah and click the Surah info icon or tap the Surah name at the top of the reading area.
What the Panel Shows

Makki vs Madani
Section titled “Makki vs Madani”| Type | Characteristics |

Listening
Section titled “Listening”You can listen to any verse or full Surah using the built-in audio player at the bottom of the reading area.
Playing Audio
Section titled “Playing Audio”- Tap the play icon next to any verse to play just that verse — the current word being recited is highlighted in the text
- Click Play in the bottom toolbar to play a full Surah from the first verse through to the end

Repeat Modes

Reciters
Section titled “Reciters”Canvas provides access to over 100 professional Quranic reciters across multiple Qira’at (recitation traditions).
Browsing Reciters
Section titled “Browsing Reciters”Click Reciters in the Canvas top navigation. Search by name, filter by Qira’at style, or browse the full list.
Each reciter profile includes their name, nationality, Qira’at style, biography, and available Surahs.
Qira’at Styles
Section titled “Qira’at Styles”| Style | Description |

Setting a Default Reciter
Section titled “Setting a Default Reciter”Go to Settings → Default Reciter → search and select your preferred reciter. You can also switch reciters on the fly using the reciter selector in the audio player toolbar.
Drawing & Annotation
Section titled “Drawing & Annotation”Canvas includes a freehand drawing layer that sits on top of the Quranic text. Draw, highlight, and annotate directly on any page — your drawings are saved automatically.
Drawing Tools
Section titled “Drawing Tools”| Tool | Function |

Activating Drawing Mode
Section titled “Activating Drawing Mode”- Open any Surah or Page in the reading area.
- Click the brush icon in the bottom toolbar.
- Select your colour and brush size.
- Draw directly on the text.
Saving & Persistence
Section titled “Saving & Persistence”Drawings are saved to your account automatically — no manual save required. When you return to the same page later, your annotations are restored exactly as you left them. Your annotations are private and only visible to you.

AI Assistant
Section titled “AI Assistant”Canvas includes a voice-powered AI assistant dedicated to Quran learning. Ask it questions about verses, request explanations, seek context, and have a natural voice conversation — without leaving Canvas.
Accessing the AI Assistant
Section titled “Accessing the AI Assistant”Click Assistant in the Canvas top navigation. Allow microphone access when prompted.
How It Works
Section titled “How It Works”- Click Start to begin a session
- Speak your question or request clearly
- The assistant processes your speech and responds in real time with voice and text
- Continue the conversation naturally — ask follow-up questions or change topics
- Click End to close the session
