Platform Reference
This section is a capability-level reference for the Ilmiya platform. Where the portal documentation describes one product surface at a time, each entry here describes one capability — program management, enrollment, course delivery, assessments, and so on — as it operates across all portals: Campus (learners), Console (educators and admins), Studio (content authors), People (SIS), Portal (guardians), Aide (AI assistant), Administration (organization control), and Router (entry).
Use this section to understand what the platform does and where its boundaries are. Use the portal docs, linked from every entry, for step-by-step procedures.
How entries are structured
Section titled “How entries are structured”Every capability entry uses the same five sections, in the same order:
- What it does — the capability in two to four sentences.
- Key objects — a Term / Definition table for the nouns the capability introduces.
- Configuration — the documented options and settings.
- Constraints and edge cases — documented limits and behaviors.
- Works with — cross-links to adjacent platform entries and the portal docs that cover procedures.
Core terminology
Section titled “Core terminology”These terms are used identically across all entries and all portals.
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Organization | The customer tenant. All Spaces, people, and catalog content belong to one Organization. |
| Space | A virtual classroom or group used to organize Students, Staff, subjects, and teams. People membership lives in Spaces; content does not. |
| Collection | The top-level container in the Studio catalog — a full subject or learning track that holds Courses. |
| Pathway | A Collection presented to learners as a structured sequence of Courses completed in order toward a broader goal. |
| Course | A set of Lessons on a defined topic inside a Collection, divided into Sections. Authored in Studio as an Index. |
| Section | A grouping of Lessons within a Course — one logical teaching unit. |
| Lesson | The playable unit a learner opens in the Lesson Player. Holds Elements. Authored in Studio as a Component (Topic). |
| Element | A single interactive item inside a Lesson — a question, activity, or media item. |
| Assignment | Catalog content pushed to a Space, in Assign mode (self-paced) or Host mode (live or scheduled). |
| Roster | The administrator view of all users across an Organization and its Spaces, including last-login activity. |
| Label | A color-coded tag applied to students, tasks, and Spaces for filtering and categorization. |
| Staff / Student / Guardian / Family | The people types managed in People: educators and administrators (Staff), learner accounts (Students), adults linked to Students (Guardians), and groups that connect Students with their Guardians (Families). |
