Assessments

Assessment in Ilmiya happens inside Lessons: every question or activity is an Element authored in the Quiz Builder, which supports 30+ element types. Learners answer Elements in the Lesson Player — by working through a Course directly or through an assignment — and every attempt is scored and recorded. Results surface for educators in Studio Results and the Analytics Grades view, for learners in Campus Grades, and for Guardians in the Portal.

TermDefinition
Quiz BuilderThe Studio editor that opens inside a Lesson, with an element list, element editor, type picker, preview, and settings panel.
Element typeThe interaction format of an Element, chosen from the type picker at creation.
AttemptOne recorded run through assessed content; assignments cap how many attempts a Student gets.
PointsThe score value of an Element (default 1); Element points sum to the Lesson score, reported as raw points and a 0–100% percentage.

Per-element settings: points value, optional per-element time limit, hint text (the hint button is hidden when empty), correct and incorrect feedback messages, a show-correct-answer toggle, required (off by default), and shuffle answers. Shuffle questions applies at the Lesson level. Media elements add autoplay, loop, playback controls, and a play limit. Question prompts and answer options accept images, audio, video, and formatted text including Arabic.

Assignment-level assessment settings — attempts, time limit per attempt, shuffle, and show results on completion — are set when the assignment is created; see Course delivery.

Results surfaces:

  • Studio Results drills from Space level through Student, assignment, attempt, and Element levels, showing raw score, percentage, and status (Completed, In Progress, Not Started, Late). Its Analytics view adds average score, completion and on-time rates, attempt distribution, per-question correct rate, most common wrong answer, average time, skip rate, score-range filters, assignment comparison, and live-session metrics.
  • Analytics Grades (educator) lists lessons completed, grade percentage, questions answered, and points per Student, with mastery tracking, accuracy and time breakdowns, and question-by-question analysis per lesson.
  • Campus Grades (learner) reflects the Lesson Player results summary: score percentage, accuracy, time spent, and attempt history.
  • Portal (Guardian) provides grade detail for linked Students.
  • Polls collect responses without a correct answer. Number Input auto-grades against a target value. Pronunciation is scored against reference audio; Recitation is assessed for accuracy and tajweed.
  • A skipped Element scores 0 by default; marking an Element required prevents skipping it.
  • Deleting an Element is permanent and removes it from existing student attempts — grades and attempt history for that Element become inaccessible.
  • Not all element types are available on every plan.
  • The Quiz Builder auto-saves content edits, but settings changes save only on Save or when moving to another Element; unsaved settings changes can be lost on close.
  • Some Elements permit retries in the Lesson Player; others advance regardless of the answer. Feedback is immediate, before the next Element.
  • Each recurrence of a recurring assignment records a separate attempt; live-session attendees who disconnect keep partial attempt data.
  • Analytics updates in near-real time during active assignments, finalizes when the assignment closes, and historical analytics are retained indefinitely. Questions with a correct rate below roughly 40–50% are highlighted for review.
  • Rewards assigned through the Grades interface can be edited or removed by teachers.
